Hostplus commits a further $100M to the IP Group Hostplus Innovation Fund

IP Group Australia, which invests in science and innovation companies, is pleased to announce a new $100 million commitment from Hostplus to the IP Group Hostplus Innovation Fund.
The new funding will bolster investment in companies specialising in areas including clean energy, the decarbonisation of transportation and industrial processes, healthcare and artificial intelligence and machine learning.
With this new commitment, Hostplus has committed a total of $310 million to the Fund1.
The Fund will continue its current mandate with an increased focus on university spin outs from IP Group’s university partners in Australia and New Zealand, alongside select opportunities from IP Group’s global portfolio.
The Fund has invested in several companies in IP Group Australia’s portfolio, including:
• Hysata (University of Wollongong), a company developing a new type of highly efficient hydrogen electrolyser that will deliver low-cost green hydrogen.
• AMSL Aero (University of Sydney), the developer of an efficient vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL) designed for aeromedical, emergency services and passenger markets.
• Canopus Networks (University of New South Wales), a company applying machine learning to understand and analyse traffic flows in telecommunications networks.
• Additive Assurance (Monash University), a developer of quality assurance technology for metal additive manufacturing.
